ABOUT

Evan Hancock is an Artist, Photographer, Producer, and Creative Director who blurs the line between art and commerce across screen, experience, and image. His career spans major productions and campaigns across Australia and beyond, crafting bold visual stories that move effortlessly from digital screens to gallery walls.

Fusing screen-based, interactive, and immersive content with a refined photographic eye, Evan brings clarity, emotion, and edge to every project.

He is the co-founder of Fmplus1 - a Creative Production and Fine Art Agency built on story, impact, and creative experimentation.

BIO

Born into a family of architecture and design, Evan’s journey began at age 12 with his father’s Pentax SLR. Capturing a single moment ignited a passion that took him from darkroom trays to digital workflows. A growing fascination with visual communication and emerging media led him into the world of motion graphics and screen content.

Today, Evan’s work is shaped by his love for exploring cultures, places, people, and the natural environment, resulting in a diverse portfolio of cultural and landscape imagery.

ABOUT THE ARTISTRY

Evan’s images balance escapism and illusion with a timeless, documentary-meets-fine-art sensibility. His compositions draw from classic approaches to light and tone, enhanced in print with photographic stock reminiscent of traditional darkroom processing.

By channelling the tactile memory of manual development, with rich blacks, subtle diffusions and nuanced mid-tones, Evan creates digital works with minimal post-production, allowing the original moment to remain intact.

His background in motion design informs a cinematic approach to photography, where each image functions as both a standalone work and a frame in a larger narrative. Like storyboards or movie stills, these sequences build an extended visual arc, offering viewers an immersive experience that bridges stillness and motion.

2020 September - Le Prix de la Photographie de Paris (Px3) ‘State of the World’ - Shortlisted.

2019 November - Life Framer. Artist profile published in ‘The Collection’ curated by the Life Framer editors.

2019 October - Life Framer 2019/2020. First place winner ‘THE FACE OF THE EARTH’ adjudicated by Nick Brandt Photographer.

Jury’s comment “A photograph of an environmentally denuded world – what must be thousands of skeletal dead trees from an Australian wildfire – that is like an almost abstract but intricate engraving or pencil drawing. It’s almost hard to tell if one is looking at a negative or positive image. An image of death yet also eerily beautiful. To me, this encapsulates the current face of the earth in the 21st century, in the midst of environmental crisis.” – Nick Brandt
